About
Isabelle Leysens is a licensed architect based in Detroit, Michigan.
Prior to beginning her own business, Isabelle worked as a Senior Designer at Five-Eighths Architecture on a diverse range of commercial and residential project types. Her work can be seen around town at Michigan & Trumbull Pizza, Drifter Coffee, and Ladder 4 Wine Bar.
Isabelle is a graduate of the Masters in Architectural Design and Research Fellowship Program at the University of Michigan. Through her graduate studies and work as a Research Assistant, Isabelle developed her knowledge of advanced fabrication technologies and workflows.
Isabelle is originally from Des Moines, Iowa. Prior to moving to Michigan, Isabelle worked at Neumann Monson Architects in Iowa City, where much of her duties focused on performing Construction Administration on the ongoing University of Iowa Voxman School of Music project.
In 2014 Isabelle graduated Magna Cum Laude with from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Architecture. During this time, her work at the Center for Building Energy Research on the National Science Foundation's EPSCoR program provided Isabelle with a platform to explore her fascination with energetic systems in architecture through sensor-based building science research.
When not working, Isabelle makes ceramics, thrift shops, and futzes with her plants.
